STACIE MONDAY

Name: Stacie Monday, also known as Art By Monday

Location: Dallas, TX

Bio: Stacie Monday is God taught and inspired artist. After realizing her purpose was more than just being a stay-at-home mom and wife about three years ago, God revealed to her exactly how she would become an artist during her busy schedule - sleep less and paint early in the morning. Stacie began to wake up at 3AM to paint while listening to sermons or gospel music. Not only did this become her personal time, but her time with God and for praise and worship. This sparked the foundation of her art.

Stacie paints in exchange for freedom, meaning she doesn't have peace unless she expressed everything inside of her onto canvas. Stacie's goal is to uplift black women while also telling her personal story through her art. God gives her a vision of something to paint and she is not free until she has painted it. As such, there is an important message behind each of her works so that they reach the right people.

Is there an element of art that you enjoy working with the most and why?

I work with acrylics, I love the texture and how fast they dry. I love to mix colors to get that perfect shade.

How do you know when your painting is finished?

I know my painting is finished when I can't make one more paint stroke. Its just a feeling I get!

If you could collaborate with any artist, dead or alive, in any discipline or form, who would you choose and why?

That would be Spike Lee. That man is a genius! He is truly an artist, and I love that he incorporates his own style into each film. His work is recognizable and he has a distinct style.
